Hit by changes in the market and competitive pressures, Nokia has announced a reorganization aimed at streamlining its operations. The Finnish company will be restructuring its business units into three separate entities: Mobile Solutions, Mobile Phones, and Markets.

The new Mobile Solutions unit will focus on high-end mobile computer and smartphone products running on the Symbian and MeeGo operating systems. Meanwhile, the revamped Mobile Phones unit will concentrate on more affordable devices operating on the Series 40 OS. The Services division, integrated into the Mobile Solutions unit, will continue to enhance the Ovi service integration in smartphones and mobile PCs, as well as develop new services for mobile phones. The Mobile Phones unit will also collaborate with the Services division to bring key services like Ovi Life Tools, Ovi Mail, Ovi Store, and Nokia Money to lower-cost devices.

This reorganization also brings changes in the company’s leadership. Anssi Vanjoki will lead the Mobile Solutions group, Mary McDowell will head the Mobile Phones unit, and Niklas Savander will lead the Markets unit. Additionally, Richard Green has been appointed as Nokia’s new chief technology officer to drive the overall technology strategy.

This restructuring aims to accelerate innovation and improve the integration of devices and software across Nokia’s product lines. Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo expressed confidence that this new structure will enable the company to offer a stronger portfolio of products and services that enhance connectivity and user experiences.
