AT&T recently introduced its new WatchTV service along with two unlimited data plans, AT&T Unlimited &More and AT&T Unlimited &More Premium, which are bundled with WatchTV, a “skinny bundle” offering over 30 live channels. These new plans have replaced the previous options and come with a starting price that is $5 higher for a single line. The plans no longer include the “HBO for life” promotion. Non-AT&T customers can access WatchTV for $15 per month. The new plans are now live and accessible on the AT&T website. This announcement follows AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson’s earlier hints during an interview with CNBC. WatchTV’s standalone price now competes with Philo, a $16-a-month entertainment network bundle that excludes sports and news channels. This move by AT&T adds to the growing list of online live TV options, including Sony, YouTube, and SlingTV.

The new AT&T plans aim to attract new customers through the video bundle offer. The Unlimited &More plan starts at $70 per line for a single line, slightly higher than the Unlimited Choice Enhanced plan. For four lines, the cost remains at $160. This plan includes access to WatchTV, standard definition video, no mobile hotspot, and a $15 DirecTV Now service credit. On the other hand, the Premium tier starts at $80 per line for a single line and $190 for four lines. In addition to WatchTV, users can select a premium add-on from options like HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, VRV, Pandora Premium, and Amazon Music Unlimited. This tier also offers a $15 credit for DirecTV, DirecTV Now, or U-Verse TV, 15 gigabits of mobile hotspot, and high-definition video. Existing plan subscribers can switch to the new plans but will lose their free HBO access (though premium customers can choose it as an add-on).

Customers signing up for auto-pay receive a $5 discount, and data speeds may reduce after reaching 22 gigabytes monthly. WatchTV is compatible with Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Safari, and Chrome browsers, in addition to smartphones. Standalone WatchTV subscribers cannot add premium channels like HBO, which is reserved for premium unlimited tier or DirecTV Now customers. AT&T is, however, exploring this possibility.
