Camera Switches is an extension of Switch Access, an Android feature launched in 2015 to assist users with limited dexterity in navigating their devices using adaptive physical switches. With Camera Switches, users can interact with their phones without the need for hands or voice commands, offering a more inclusive experience. The feature allows users or caregivers to customize gesture duration and size for optimal detection.

To activate Camera Switches, users can access their phone’s settings, select Accessibility, and enable Switch Access under Interaction Controls. Alternatively, users can download the app from the Play Store. Moreover, Google has introduced Project Activate, an app that utilizes facial gestures from Camera Switches to trigger customized actions with a single gesture, such as sending a text message or making a phone call.

Furthermore, Google has updated Lookout, a tool designed for individuals with visual impairments, to recognize additional languages and currencies. The feature now includes handwriting recognition for Latin-based languages and supports multiple currencies like Euros and Indian Rupees.
